The Still Small Voice

Kickstarter Campaign
Change the way you listen to yourself… shift the way you speak to yourself.
Introducing The Still Small Voice Tarot deck
I am excited to introduce The Still Small Voice Tarot. Due to launch on Kickstarter in spring 2026, this is a new Tarot deck designed to help you, whoever you are to:
- tune into your own quiet, powerful inner voice
- trust the clear and calm wisdom you receive
- and use that clarity to navigate life with greater confidence
Though firmly grounded in the Rider Waite Smith tradition, the Still Small Voice Tarot seeks to join the vibrant, modern feminist Tarot movement of recent years that goes beyond the outdated patriarchal imprint that shaped earlier decks.
The voice of this deck is your voice
As we go about our daily lives, many of us carry multiple inner voices or ways of knowing – the voices of others, those we inherit, those shaped by our outer experiences, and the truest voices that speak quietly for the heart and soul.
The Still Small Voice Tarot invites you to recognise and connect with the voice or voices within. It offers an opportunity to pause and listen to the way you speak to yourself.
Working with Tarot provides a framework for conversations with yourself – raising questions, exploring answers, and uncovering areas of resistance.Â
A regular Tarot practice you can help you deepen the connection with your inner voice – strengthening your ablility distinguish between the voice of fear and of your intuition, and encouraging you to speak to yourself with less judgment and more compassion and self-trust.
These conversations with the self, through Tarot, can help you identify and break old patterns, understand how they may be shaping your present, and encourage you to be open to all the possibilities of the future.
This deck is for you…
Whether you’re new to Tarot or a seasoned reader, whether you use this deck to read for yourself and others, or simply to journal your thoughts and feelings, I created the Still Small Voice Tarot for you with the intention to put you in touch with your own still, small voice within.Â
The Still Small Voice Tarot deck is primarily for women and girls. It has been made so you’ll see yourselves reflected in the cards. And imagined to evoke the complex emotional, mental, spiritual and physical paths we travel together throughout our lives, our loves and our work.
On your travels with this deck, you’ll visit mystical Tarot landscapes alongside the more mundane, though no less magical, spaces and experiences that make up your everyday lives.
I hope that it will inspire and empower you, and give you access to the most reliable direction in your daily life that’s available to you – the guidance that comes from the voice within.
A collaborative Tarot practice is a conversation with yourself
With The Still Small Voice Tarot deck in your hand, I hope to engage you in a collaborative, conversational Tarot practice, by which each card meets you where you are – its message shaped as much by your own insights, emotions, and lived experiences as by traditional ‘book’ definitions.
The idea that cards do not dictate a single truth, or prediction, but instead invite reflection, interaction, and promote personal agency is central to modern feminist Tarot.
This approach to the cards acknowledges that meaning is not imposed from outside, as in a prescriptive or predictive reading. Instead, it is co-created by the reader, the seeker, the deck creator, the cards, and the archetypes they hold.
All these elements contribute to an interpretation shaped by your own context, history, insight, and intuition.
“The Still Small Voice Tarot deck will appeal to a new and current and even older generation of hopeful and optimistic ‘mystics’. There will never be enough Tarot decks.”

Take a glimpse into the
Still Small Voice Tarot
The Still Small Voice Tarot Deck is rich in symbolism, imagination and colour.
It is a realisation of my personal vision of a detailed and vibrant Tarot universe full of the characters we all recognise and love, and the familiar stories and challenges we face every day and over our lifetimes.
I used generative AI to help me bring that vision to life, but every card in this deck has been guided by my intuitive intention, my knowledge of the Tarot, my design choices and storytelling.
In this deck, I wanted to honour the archetypes and symbolism that exist within Tarot’s rich tradition while also evoking the more personal journey of you as the seeker, and reflecting your experiences in life, relationships and work.
Take a glimpse.
The Still Small Voice Tarot is for you to use as a collaborative, reflective tool ~ a way to explore what’s true for you, engage with your intuition, and deal with life’s uncertainties with a boost of courage, compassion and confidence.

Meet the deck creator
Hi, I’m Sophie, and I’ve been reading, studying and generally nerding out over Tarot for more than 25 years. I started learning as a teenager, sitting around my best friend’s kitchen table poring over a well-loved, totally battered 1970s Sheridan-Douglas deck that had belonged to her mother. You can read a longer version of that story on the Still Small Voice Tarot blog.
There have been long periods of my life when I didn’t pick up the cards at all. But I always returned… for the love of the images and the stories they tell, for guidance and inspiration, personal growth and spiritual development.
I embrace the modern Tarot movement that encourages an empowering, collaborative and conversational practice rather than a predictive or prescriptive one. It’s my experience that when you turn to Tarot, you’ll find not only the answers to your questions but, more often than not, you’ll uncover the questions you actually need to be asking.
In the Muggle world, I am a Web Designer. This is a job that gives me great satisfaction, but what I love most is when my work and the world of Tarot, Astrology and other Mysteries combine. This is how the Still Small Voice Tarot website came to be – a labour of love that took shape during lockdown and grew into something I never expected.
I have always dreamed of creating a deck of my own. Now here it is. And with your support, I can share it with the world.
The Journey from Vision to Deck Creation
I’m not going to say that this deck happened by accident, but I can say that it didn’t start on purpose.
I was looking for ways to illustrate what I was writing about Tarot on the Still Small Voice Tarot blog so I started playing with digital collage and AI art and, before I knew it, I was indeed creating a deck. Perhaps at that point, the intention was simply to create it for myself.
I’m not sure at what point I realised that I would need to share it with the world, but after nearly two years spent creating and crafting (with paper and glue stick) I knew I could not just let it live solely on my desktop.
The first edition ‘test’ deck is printed and in my hands and it feels like a wonderful thing. To share it with you would be a dream come true.
I used AI to help visualise it, render it and make it real but the heart and soul of the Still Small Voice Tarot Deck is based on years of study, intuition, and imagination, and rooted in my own deepening connection with the cards.
Your questions answered
FAQs about my Kickstarter campaign
Why Kickstarter?
Kickstarter is a popular crowdfunding platform that allows creators to raise funds and create support and community for their projects. I’m using Kickstarter to fund the first print run of the Still Small Voice Tarot Deck.
How does the Kickstarter funding process work?
Kickstarter uses an all-or-nothing funding model. If I reach or exceed my goal by the campaign’s end, I’ll receive the funds and go ahead with the project.
If I don’t reach my goal, none of the pledged money will be collected, and the Still Small Voice Tarot Deck won’t be published this time.
What are the rewards and tiers for backers?
In return for your support, I’ll devise reward tiers linked to your contribution.
These tiers will be announced with the launch of the campaign and are likely to include:
An Early Bird Offer:Â discounted prices or extra bonuses for early backers who pledge within the first few days.
A lower-tier might offer a digital guidebook.
A mid-tier might include a copy of the tarot deck itself plus printed guidebook – at lower than the retail price.
Other rewards might include involvement in card back and box design and other final deck decisons.
What are stretch goals?
If my campaign does really well, I can set stretch goals. These are extra funding targets that unlock additional perks for all backers such as:
- printing on better card stock
- including additional cards
- a fancier box
- extending the companion guidebook
- creating a Still Small Voice Tarot app
When will the Kickstarter campaign launch?
To ensure the success of the campaign, I am currently working on pre-promotion and engagement.
I am asking for email sign-ups to gauge interest from backers. This will help me to assess my costs and set my goals.
I intend to launch the campaign in spring 2026. Once, live the campaign will run for 30 days.
I would love to have your support. Please sign up for my Kickstarter campaign news below.
When will the deck be published?
The artwork for the deck has been created and a test deck has been printed. Some cards require revisions, but this aspect of the project is almost complete.
The guidebook is currently in the planning stage.
With full backing, I aim to have the deck printed, packaged and shipping within 6 months of the close of my kickstarter campaign.
FAQs about the Still Small Voice Tarot Deck
What is the inspiration behind this deck?
I have been inspired by so many of the bold and beautiful decks that have come on the market in the last decade – decks that claim Tarot as a space where the feminine is not just included, but centred – offering a more rounded reflection of the our real, lived experience of the wonderful yet often dangerous world we inhabit.
As a woman and a single mother of a teenage daughter, my personal ‘drive’ to create the Still Small Tarot deck in this evolving tradition has arisen from the knowledge that, while many of us live with relative freedom, true equality remains out of reach. In some parts of the world, basic rights for women and girls are still denied. Elsewhere, in places that once felt safe, those rights are being eroded. We are raising daughters in a world where the insidious voices of toxic masculinity are gaining greater access to and influence over young male minds. And authentic feminine sensuality and expression of sexuality is judged (and not just by men), hijacked, comodotised and exploited. Softness, sensitivity, and inner knowing are often dismissed or devalued.
This deck is my response. It offers a space where your inner voice is honoured, your experience is reflected, and your power can be reclaimed.
What is the artistic concept behind this deck?
The visual concept was to give the Still Small Voice Tarot a fine art feel, blending digital collage with AI-generated imagery to create a textured, evocative Tarot landscape.
Each suit and arcana is rendered in a distinct ‘medium’ to reflect its symbolic tone:
-
Acrylic and oil for the Major Arcana and Wands – dynamic, bold, visionary
-
Watercolour for the Cups – fluid, emotional, transparent
-
Oil for the Pentacles – grounded, lush, earthy
-
A mix of mediums and techniques for the ‘painful’ suit of Swords – fragmented, layered, complex
Every card was created with intention – to honour the rich symbolic tradition of Tarot while expressing the nuanced inner and outer landscapes through which we move.
What are the main influences behind the deck?
The Still Small Voice Tarot has been created in the Waite-Smith tradition….
I’m a deck collector and have many that I have acquired mostly for the art. Apart from the Rider Waite Smith and Thoth deck, my everyday decks include Lacey Bryant’s incredible art deck, the Slow Tarot, Chris-Anne’s beautiful and inspiring Light Seer’s Tarot, and the simply magical Spacious Tarot, created by Carrie Mallon and Anne Rugyt. All these have inspired in me the desire and the confidence to bring my own deck to life.
I’m an art lover and I must mention here my Grandmother, Dorée. She was a prolific artist who started painting in her 40s – inspirational in that respect. Her oil paintings are still hanging on our family walls today. She was at her most accomplished when she was working on still life and portraits, but she also had a penchant for surrealism and I think that she would have produced a spectacular Tarot deck if such an idea had occurred or been presented to her.
I’m a Tarot nerd and alongside all the decks I have a growing library of brilliant books on the subject. On my nightstand at the very moment: Understanding Feminine Psychology by Robert A. Johnson, Kabbalah Tree & The Forest of Souls by Rachel Pollack, Tarot and the Gates of Light by Mark Horn, Tarot for Yourself by Mary K. Greer, The Qabalistic Tarot by Robert Wang and The Tarot Handbook by Angeles Arrien.
I am grateful for the early and more recent influences and encouragement of my oldest friend Senta Rich, and her mother Deike Begg, at whose kitchen table I first encountered Tarot as a teenager in the 80s. And my Tarot and Astrology teacher and friend, Sinéad Fine.
What's with the name Still Small Voice?
The name Still Small Voice Tarot refers to the power of the calm, quiet voice within. The voice of your intuition.
The still, small voice represents divine wisdom, inner truth, and the gentle yet powerful guidance that often goes unnoticed amidst external chaos.
This quiet voice is a source of strength and clarity. Tarot is just one of many ways you can tap into that inner strength and clarity and step out every day with confidence in your choices.
How long did it take to create the deck?
Working mornings and evenings outside my muggle job hours and at weekends, it took me nearly two years to create the 78 cards of the Still Small Voice Tarot Deck.
Are you ok with AI?
Addressing objections to AI-generated art in Tarot decks is valid. And if you are opposed in principle, this is probably not the deck for you.
As a Tarot reader and collector for 3 decades, it’s hard to fully express the gratitude I feel towards the Tarot masters and deck creators that have gone before.
I am in awe of the artistry, dedication and personal touch that goes into traditionally created hand-drawn decks. Artistry that I do not believe will ever be replaced or displaced in the world by AI.
That said, AI is a tool that has enabled me to bring my ideas and vision to life and share my deck with the Tarot world.
The Still Small Voice Tarot deck is a reflection of my personal journey with Tarot and with also AI.
While I used AI to help visualise it, render it and make it real, the heart and soul of the deck are based on years of study, intuition, and imagination, and rooted in my own deepening connection with the cards.
