Pride and striving

The 5 of Wands shows us an opportunity to strive to be better, to get ahead, to win. Saturn the task master, ruler of ambitious hardworking Capricorn, is pushing us to be the best selves that we were destined to be – to self-mastery and success. In the first Decan of Leo we are called to compete, to take part, to be fuelled by our fiery passion, to harness it without letting then overwhelm us. Without the ego taking over. Proud not prideful.

As with previous Decans, I have found it useful to look at some keywords to see what ideas it may spark about the current Decan of Leo I.

More thoughts

Considering this card through the lens of the Decan has be really useful. It highlights the virtue of healthy competition, of striving in this world to be the best you can be, to achieve, to succeed but NOT at the expense of others and not purely for the sake of the ego.

Saturn is pushing us to grow and achieve our personal best, to overcome limitations and boundaries and to dedicate ourselves to becoming whole, productive members of society. The World XXI reminds us that we are all connected and our striving should be for the betterment of all. Strength VIII teaches us compassion for ourselves and others as engage in our work, relationships and our challenges.
