Today, I am continuing my meandering amble through the #Actctober2021 Tarot Challenge hosted by @GlitterbyInk and @LivingJivaWell

The prompt: Today, how will I be grounded?
Decks: The Spacious Tarot by @CarrieMallon and @AnnieRuygt and The Field Tarot by @_HannahFofana

Conscious draw – 10 of Pentacles

When I think of what grounds me I think of my family and my friends… they are my roots, my foundation, my connection to myself (past, present and future). The place where I grew and the ground that still supports me.

Like the rootedness of a tree, my friends and family give me the stability to withstand life’s stormy weather. I may have been blown this way and that, some of my branches have snapped and I’ve certainly lost plenty of leaves on the wind, but I’m still standing.

I return to centre. I come home.

I’ve also had my fair share of noisy squirrels taking up residence in my branches, having all-night parties and generally causing chaos… but I’m still mostly intact. Mostly dignified. Not entirely unbalanced.

OK, the tree analogy ends there!

The 10 of Pentacles embodies the idea of groundedness and security so perfectly.

Real, stable, accomplished and complete. Responsibility and family values. Being present and rooted in daily life.

And so to the cards…

10 and Ace Pentacles Spacious and Field Tarot

I’ve been having a bit of a love affair with the Spacious Tarot and Field Tarot this year. And as you can see here that affair romps on unabated and unbridled through fields of poppies, pine forest and galaxies far, far away. Aesthetically so different yet somehow sitting side-by-side in beautiful contrast. One so earthy the other ethereal. Both exploring space – outer and inner – cosmic and atomic – the spaces in between. Spacious and Space-ious. See what I did there? ?

In the 10 of Pentacles, we see magic in the mundane and in nature. The Tree of Life. The divine, manifest in every last speck of creation – in all the stars, the moon and sun, the planets, the earth down to the concentric rings of the tree and the smallest creatures.

For the second card, I let the deck decide.

Unconscious draw – Ace of Pentacles

I find it fascinating the card that appeared today was the Ace of Pentacles. Following the Ten, the Ace takes us back to the beginning of the story of the suit of Pentacles reminding us to keep investing in family and friendships, in the planet and life itself – energy, time, love, thought, money.

The 10 of Pentacles speaks to me of the responsibility of being a parent and the Ace of putting back into the ground what I have taken out. Giving my child, and future generations, the same foundation to grow from.

I have become the roots grounding my daughter. It is my responsibility to make a safe, secure home and future. To create the space, the place for her to return and ground herself, where she can find physical, mental and emotional support and balance.

It’s a big responsibility and a privilege.

So, how will I remain grounded today?

Today, I show up with gratitude for all that I have in this world and my place in it. I ground myself in the love and support of friends and family and respond with love and support for them, for myself, for the earth and all her creatures.

Today’s post was brought to you by the numbers Ten and One from The Spacious Tarot by Carrie Mallon and Annie Ruygt and The Field Tarot by Hannah Fofana
