First impressions
The 10 of Pentacles gives off a sense of wealth, comfort, security and community.
What is happening in the card?
In the traditional Rider Waite version of the 10 of Pentacles, we see what might be a market scene. An old man sits at the city gate in a rich, colourful robe. A couple in conversation. A child and dogs are also visible.
And 10 coins, representing the 10 Sephirot of the Tree of Life, are visible, hanging in the air, in front of this bustling, everyday scene of business as usual.
Do these people see the shining coins?
How can we relate to this card?
The 10 of Pentacles indicates the security of family, home and even wealth. But not just material wealth. The also reminds us of the other ways in which we are wealthy – in health, wellbeing, relationships and spirituality. All of these serve to ground us and evoke gratitude in us.
The 10 of Pentacles also reminds us of our responsibility to do good in this world with our wealth, time, energy and love.

Message & affirmations
I am rich in many ways – spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically. I take loving care of my body and I am grateful for the freedom my health gives me to be and do what I need to for myself and my family.
I recognise the beauty and divinity in all living creatures, great and small and I see and respect the humanity in others as in myself.
“It is health that is the real wealth, and not pieces of gold and silver.”
~ Mahatma Gandhi
“Happiness comes from spiritual wealth, not material wealth… Happiness comes from giving, not getting. If we try hard to bring happiness to others, we cannot stop it from coming to us also. To get joy, we must give it, and to keep joy, we must scatter it. ”
~ John Templeton, Philanthropist & investor
My personal experiences of this card
At the time of writing the 10 of Pentacles has been coming up quite a bit and I’m obsessed with the way the two versions of this card from The Spacious Tarot and The Field Tarot seem to fit together. Both for me are different representations of the Tree of Life – one more literal than the other.
The ‘Spacious’ tree here seems to speak of groundedness, maturity and solidity – something rooted and strong, perhaps a little unbending. The Field Tarot version depicts what might be the rings of a tree and also a version of the Tree of Life organised in concentric circles – starting with Keter/spirit in the centre and moving outwards to the physical realm of Malkuth.
… I love the way these two deck work together… exploring inner and outer space… on both the molecular and cosmic levels… spacious and space-ious. .

Events, situations & readings
In a relationship spread:
A good card in any spread relating to love and relationships, representing groundedness, security and success in your relationships. It may refer to family ties.
In a personal/spiritual development spread:
This is a deeply spiritual card and reminds us of the beauty and divinity in all things.
In a career and finances spread:
A great indicator for success in your work and finances. Family finances.
Reversed:
The 10 of Pentacles may bring a heavier energy to a reading. Perhaps you have the support of family but with conditions – strings attached. It could also represent the weight of financial or family responsbility.
People & interaction with other cards
Family, father, home, security. Family ties and money with strings attached.
Bodes well with the Ace of Pentacles for new financial ventures, a windfall, inheritance or moving home. With the 6 of Pentacles, you are reminded of the importance of giving and sharing wealth with others.
The Tarot 10s are linked numerologically with The Wheel X, The Sun XIX and the Aces. When these come together in a reading there is a strong suggestion of growth, completion and new potential.
