First impressions
Our first impression of the Page of Wands is his intent and curiosity…
What is happening in the card?
In the Page of Wands, we see a young man dressed in fine golden tunic and cloak embellished with salamanders. There is a feather in his hat.
He stands in what looks like a desert landscape, with three pyramids visible in the distance, and is gazing intently at the staff or Wand that he holds in his hands. It’s almost as if he is seeing for the first time.
How can we relate to this card?
The Pages signal good news or something new, something to wonder at… or about. With the Page of Wands, we see the spark of inspiration or passion in a new idea.
His appearance could represent exciting news that arouses great enthusiasm and precipitous action.
We experience this page’s energy when we feel the first frisson of sexual attraction or excitement in a new project. We embody this page or princess when we are raring to go and prepared to take on the world… even when we don’t quite reckon on the size of the thing we are taking on.

Message & affirmations
Today, and every day, I step out into the world with passion and courage and I engage with an open heart and a curious mind. I am excited and inspired by all the possibilities that life offers me.
My personal experiences of this card
I go along with the idea of Pages, or Princesses, as different aspects of The Fool. They are the young and the curious characters of the Tarot deck.
And I have a particular love of the Princess of Wands as for me she is my daughter. Passionate, impulsive, full of fire… my little fire starter, who happens to be an Aries.
My absolute favourite of all is from the Thoth Tarot. She has a tiger by the tail – brave and a little naive – fearless. The image below also includes the ballsy and beautiful Princess of Wands from The Urban Tarot… The Girl with the Tiger Tattoo.
I also love her Golden Dawn name: Princess of the Shining Flame, The Rose of the Palace of Fire. It suggests so much potential ready to ignite and burn bright… This Girl is on Fire!
Events, situations & readings
In a relationship spread:
The page or princess in a love and relationships spread could suggest the initial spark of attraction.
In a work/career spread:
The Page of Wands suggests good news in this area of your life, perhaps a new beginning – a new job, project or assignment – and offers inspiration to ‘take the baton’ and run with it.
People & interaction with other cards
With the Ace of Wands the idea that something new and exciting is about to begin is amplified and Page urges you to grab any opportunity with confidence and enthusiasm.
The Page of Wands with other cards of the same suit, such as the 8 of Wands or the 3 of Wands, suggest that projects will move quickly in a favourable direction. The presence of some Pentacles alongside would offer a grounding influence and help to make ideas a reality.
